At the age of eleven, after watching the World Wrestling Championships held in his hometown of Edmonton, Alberta, Corey was inspired to become an Olympic free style wrestler. He achieved his dream of making Canada's National Wrestling Team in 1994/95 and in the same year was chosen as Alberta's Amateur Wrestler of the Year!

After competing on a national and international stage for several years and winning many provincial, national and international competitions, Corey decided to stay involved in wrestling as a coach and give back to the sport that he loved so much as an athlete.
